Each week I’m noticing, and drawing, small things that have made me feel good.
I hope my little life lessons help you to notice the things in your week that make you smile. And if you feel comfortable, please share them in the comments or send me a message. I’d love to draw them too.
Little Life Lesson: Water plants
Sure my plants don’t look quite as healthy as the ones in this picture (I’ve recently decimated a lemon plant) but I love spending a little time each week giving my house plants their ceremonial shower. Caring for other living things reminds me to care for myself.
Little Life Lesson: Wear bright hats
Jeeze it’s got cold this week. And frosty, crispy mornings demand my bright green hat. It keeps my head warm, my spirits up and there seems to be a quiet camaraderie between people wearing bright clothing in winter. Smiles and nods a plenty. Why not join the crew?
Little Life Lesson : Hug
I’ve previously shared how research says that hugging keeps us healthy. My baby has started hugging my dog, and it’s providing me with a whole host of feel good endorphins.
Little Life Lesson : Light candles
In the winter of 2015, I had a pop up shop in Brixton Box Park. My pal James (the marathon runner) was our (self-appointed) Head of Hygge. As the light went outside, he lit the candles inside. Instant warmth spread around our small shipping container and the transition from day to night was marked. This ritual is still a part of my winter evenings and my current favourites are Earl of East’s Smoke and Musk and St Eval’s Inspiritus.
