Rest
This Women’s Hour podcast explores our understanding of rest, how it has changed and why it is so important. Jessica Creighton discusses the theme with guests who include composers, athletes and magazine editors. Well worth a listen.
Community
I love drawing so I make sure I follow tonnes of illustrators and artists on Instagram to keep inspired. A favourite of mine is Sarah Dyer. I’m a paid up member of her Patreon where she so generously shares her sketchbooks and picture book knowledge. I want to draw more and share more this year, and she is helping me build the confidence to do so.
Nature
It’s a relief to see the sun shining at last.
Learn
A talk that will help me to make better decisions? Yes please. I’ve just signed up to hear author Ed Smith share insights on decision-making, leadership and success from his time as Chief Selector of the England cricket team. You too can register to listen along online or attend in person here.
Nutrition
Eating meals with other people has many psychological, social and biological benefits. Benefits that the brilliant people at The Long Table know all too well, as they host a dining and community space where everyone is invited to cook, learn and eat. People with barriers to employment can gain meaningful work, learn invaluable skills, and locally grown food can be celebrated. I love their name and graphics too.
Exercise
Following my ‘No resolutions for 2023’ article I have been doing more walking and more swimming. And by swimming I mean mainly sitting in the steam room by the swimming pool. It’s been glorious.
