Rest
I recently realised that I was sleeping in a king sized bed with double sized duvet. Amateur. So I’ve upgraded, and my sleep is better and my bed looks tidier when I make it. Middle-aged joy.
Nutrition
I know that eating well makes me feel better, but at the moment I’m a slave to Kit-Kat chunkies. Help.
Exercise
I did an intense pilates class this week, and it made my legs feel wobbly for most of the day. But I’ve realised the tougher the exercise the quieter my mind, and the calmer exercise the more my mind races. Tough choice.
Community
I’ve launched a publishing house with my number one partner-in-creativity Katee. They say don’t work with friends, I say they’re wrong. It’s the best.
Nature
I find life easier when the sun shines. And it has been shining this week. Hooray. I’ve spent much more time outside, and have even cleared a few of my garden pots ready for planting.

Apparently 20th March is International Happiness Day. So Self Space (the world’s first on-demand mental health service) announced 21st March International Sadness Day. Because if happiness is something to be practised, then so should sadness. You might be a day late, but go on, have a good ol’ cry.
The six things I do to stay sane, that might just help you too
Tracking these six things helps me understand how the things I do (or don’t do) affect the way I feel. I’ve written more about this here.
I sell Mental Maintenance Notebooks which have day by day tracking of these six things and a weekly reflection page. If you’d like to try it for yourself, snap one up for just a tenner. They also make lovely gifts for friends you care about, so why not pop two in your basket?
