Rest
Channelling my inner David Shrigley grasshopper.
Nutrition
Planning to be 90% mini egg by the end of the weekend.
Exercise
A tip for a *slightly* quieter mind when exercising. When I swim, I’ve do a low-key body scan meditation. Every two lengths I focus on a different part of my body from my feet to my head. This helps to stop me thinking through work challenges or obsessively counting lengths, and allows me to check in with how my body is feeling.
Community
We spent last weekend with friends, eating and laughing mainly. Nothing like it.
Nature
I learnt the right way to relocate snails. Ripping them away from the ground can cause their mantle to collapse, which can be fatal. Sob. You need to tap on their shells to make them retract their bodies into their shells before you move them to safety. Let’s all become snail tappers.
Learn
Rescued baby hedgehog turns out to be a hat bobble. Perhaps the best piece of news of the week. As well as providing the laughs, it meant I learnt that a baby hedgehog is called a hoglet. Heartbreakingly sweet.
The six things I do to stay sane, that might just help you too
Tracking these six things helps me understand how the things I do (or don’t do) affect the way I feel. I’ve written more about this here.
I sell Mental Maintenance Notebooks which have day by day tracking of these six things and a weekly reflection page. If you’d like to try it for yourself, snap one up for just a tenner. They also make lovely gifts for friends you care about, so why not pop two in your basket?
