Plant rescuing, communities of women and Miriam
Six things that have supported my wellbeing this week #16
Rest
Can the act of doing nothing be the secret to a healthier and happier life? This article suggests it might be and also introduced me to The Extreme Relaxing UK Championships, who knew?
Nutrition
Roast aubergine with caponata and fonduta from Updown. Absolutely delicious.
Exercise
I sat in a sauna for far too long, turned tomato red and called it exercise. Huzzah.
Community
Hooray for the happy home shared by 26 women - “We have brothers, sons, lovers – but they can’t live here!” *Messages gal pals immediately.*
Nature
I’ve been watching endless videos of Sarah Gerrard-Jones as she rescues and resuscitate plants. Addictive and educational.
Learn
Endless learnings from Miriam Margolyes whose recent appearance on This Morning included a to camera reminder that “we all feel the terror sometimes, of failure, of being over looking, of being worthless, but you’re not darling, you’re not.” She also farted live on air. Too good.
The six things I do to stay sane, that might just help you too
Tracking these six things helps me understand how the things I do (or don’t do) affect the way I feel. I’ve written more about this here.
I sell Mental Maintenance Notebooks which have day by day tracking of these six things and a weekly reflection page. If you’d like to try it for yourself, snap one up for just a tenner. They also make lovely gifts for friends you care about, so why not pop two in your basket?
