Bryony Gordon introduced me to the concept of The Eye Diet, where you watch what you see, not what you eat. She’s trying to look away from comments from trolls, cruel articles about celebrities and grim news stories, and just treat her eyes and brain to loveliness. I’m trying hard to do the same.
Exercise
My solo forty minute walk plans were scuppered by mist and drizzle but just thinking about the idea of it made me feel pretty good.
Community
I’ve been topped right up with lovely company this week. I spent two nights by the sea with family, had a pizza date, brunch with friends, catch ups with buddies back from travels and Zoom catch ups with pals in Toronto, Hong Kong and Florence.
Nature
I find the cold, solid weight of stones very grounding, and enjoyed a happy five minutes collecting them with small friends on an icy beach in Kent.

There are some nice reminders in this list of 100 tiny changes to transform your life. Like light candles, walk outside everyday and from Mr Motivator, cry whether faced with joy or sadness. Sniff.
The six things I do to stay sane, that might just help you too
Tracking these six things helps me understand how the things I do (or don’t do) affect the way I feel. I’ve written more about this here.
I sell Mental Maintenance Notebooks which have day by day tracking of these six things and a weekly reflection page. If you’d like to try it for yourself, snap one up for just a tenner. They also make lovely gifts for friends you care about, so why not pop two in your basket?
Thanks so much for the lovely mention, Zoë! So glad you enjoyed that post - I'm still going with the regular mornings and it's definitely helping. Your beach photo reminded me of how long it's been since I went searching for stones and bits of pottery or glass along the shore.
